The comparative of superiority is formed with the adverb "daha" (more) that is placed before the adjective.

The comparative of equality is formed with "kadar" (as much as,as many as, etc.) and is placed before the adjective.

Paul Henry kadar gençtir	Paul is as young as Henry.
Henry kadar çalışkanım.	I am as industrious as Henry.
Demir tahtadan sağlamdır.	Iron is stronger than timber.

The suffix of the ablative case "-den or "-dan ("-ten, -tan" see note in lesson two) means "of, from, of the, by, out, of" etc.

You will notice that with these suffixes, the adverb "daha" becomes optinal.

Demir gümüşten (daha) ağırdır.	Iron is heavier than silver.
Altın gümüşten (daha) değerlidir.	Gold is more precious than silver.
Babam annemden yaşlıdır.	Father is older than mother.
Henry Bill kadar güçlüdür.	Henry is more turbulent than Paul.
Bill Paul kadar usludur.	Bill is as well behaved as Paul.
Yağ su kadar ağır değildir.	Oil is not so strong as cardboard.
Kağıt karton kadar sağlam.	Paper is not so strong asdeğildir. Cardboard.
Sağlık paradan değerlidir.	Health is more precious thanmoney.
Para sağlık kadar gerekli.	Money is not so necessary asdeğildir. Health.
Paul benden tembeldir.	Paul is lazier than I (am).

The comparative of superiority is also made with the ablative case of personal pronouns, whilst the comparative of equality is made with the genitive case of personal pronouns (see 4 th lesson).

Henry sizden çalışkandır.	Henry is more industrious than you.
Henry sizin kadar çalışkandır.	Henry is as dilligent as you (are)
Ben sizden cesaretliyim.	I am more courageous than you (are)
Ben sizin kadar cesaretliyim.	I am as courageous as you (are)
Siz benden zengin değilsiniz.	You are not richer than I (am)
Siz benim kadar zenginsiniz.	You are as rich as I (am)
